How A Simple Herb Garden Changed My Life and Health

Gardening isn't just a hobby...it's a transformative way to reconnect with nature and boost your well-being. Growing your own herbs provides flavorful ingredients but it also enhances both mental and physical health. It is one small way to boost your health in a fun and enjoyable way.

Studies show that interacting with plants can reduce stress, improve your mood, and boost cognitive function. For centuries, fragrant plants like herbs have been shown to release serotonin and even calm the nervous system making them incredibly beneficial to your health.

With summer in full swing, there's nothing like picking fresh, health-boosting herbs from your own garden. I remember the first time I snipped fresh basil for a salad; the aroma made me a lifelong herb gardener! They are more nutritious than store-bought and retain more of their natural vitamins, minerals, and essential oils. Here are my favorites and some tips on how to grow them yourself and why they’re good for you!

SOIL, MAINTENANCE, AND HARVESTING:
Use high-quality organic potting soil and plant your herbs according to their specific requirements. Be sure to water them regularly and make sure they get enough sunlight. Trimming them occasionally will help to encourage growth.

Once your herbs are established, you can start harvesting them. Use a clean pair of shears to snip the leaves you need. Add them to salads, meals, drinks, and you can even use them fresh or dried to decorate your table or gifts. The more you play with your new garden, you will find new ways to utilize your constant supply of fresh, beautiful, and nutritious herbs! I’d love to hear (and see!) how they turn out!
